Frequently Asked Questions

Registration, difficulty, timing, e-bikes, support and race-week answers for the Oz Stage Race.

Before you enter

When does registration open?

November 1, 2026 through BikeReg.

How does team registration work?

One rider registers the team on BikeReg and enters their teammate’s name, birthday and email. Teams start together, finish together and share one time.

What does it cost?

Solo $450 per rider; Team of Two $850 per team; U23/Junior Solo $300 per rider; U23/Junior Team $500 per team.

Is there early-bird pricing?

A limited early-bird allocation is planned. Confirmed terms will be published before registration opens.

How hard is it, really?

Hard enough that you should train for it. The days aren't long, but there's very little flat and very little coasting — about a hundred feet of climbing in every mile, almost all of it in short steep efforts, four days running.

Can I finish it?

If you can comfortably ride two and a half to three hours of singletrack and back it up the next day, yes. If that's not you yet, you've got until May — or ride the touring class, which is the same four days with no clock on you.

What should I do between now and May?

Ride back-to-back days. Work on your handling when you're tired.

Do I have to race every day?

Ride all three scored stages to receive an overall placing. The optional prologue sets call-ups but does not count toward overall time.

How is the winner determined?

By cumulative time across the three scored stages.

Which e-bikes are eligible?

Class 1 pedal-assist only, no throttle, with a 20 mph assist cap.

Will one e-bike battery last?

Bring a range extender or second battery. The team transports backups to a designated aid station each day.

Are there cut-offs?

Yes. Each stage has a posted cut-off provided before race day.

What happens in bad weather?

The race continues rain or shine. The course may be modified when conditions require it.

Where should I stay?

Explore lodging through Discover Bella Vista and Visit Bentonville. Hotel arrangements for 2027 are being finalized.

Can I volunteer?

Yes. Email volunteer@ozarkfoundation.org.

What is the refund policy?

Between November 1, 2026 and February 28, 2027, riders in any category may receive a full refund minus a 15% admin fee, usually processed within 3-5 business days. Between March 1 and May 15, 2027, any category participant may transfer their entry to another rider in the same category for no additional fee, or defer their fee as a credit toward 2028. Deferral requests after May 15, 2027 cannot be honored unless proof of extenuating circumstances is provided. Full terms are on the Ways to Race page.
